Sixty-seven thousand students corralled into one convention center equals 67,000 potential Bumpers College students. Two of our Bumpers College Ambassadors recently attended National FFA Convention for recruiting in Indianapolis.

The ambassadors used stickers, buttons and giveaways to engage students with our college and the University. Students of all demographics and socioeconomic backgrounds were in attendance and all 50 states (and Puerto Rico) were represented. The ambassadors interacted with students from most states – and even “Called the Hogs” several times with Arkansas students! (You can imagine the strange looks given from non-SEC students/exhibitors)

The ambassadors were also able to attend the Ned LeDoux X Garth Brooks concert FOR FREE. They were blown away. Garth put on an amazing show and encouraged all students in attendance to pursue their dreams and overcome adversity.

National FFA was not only a chance to recruit, but a chance for Bumpers students to showcase their leadership and skills. Will Clark (agricultural education, communication and technology) was a backstage staff member, a vital part of making the entire convention a success; and Macie Kelly (agricultural education, communication and technology) was our states National Officer Candidate. Kelly went through an intense process to become our candidate and is an excellent representative of our state. Zachary Andrews (agricultural education, communication and technology) competed in prepared public speaking and was top 16 in the nation. Stephanie Bennett (poultry science), Kelby Biswell (horticulture, landscape and turf sciences; and agricultural education, communication and technology) and Katie Sievert (poultry science), among others, all received their American degrees, an accomplishment that only 1 percent of students achieve. Wow! Our students are awesome!

Our Bumpers College alumni were also well represented with many serving as advisors from chapters all over Arkansas and Tennessee, and it was great interacting with them!
