National FFA hosted its annual “FFA Week” recently and it gave many students within our college the chance to celebrate and reflect on everything FFA has done for them.
A large percentage of students in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences were involved in FFA during their high school careers and some are still involved through our FFA Alumni chapter. Because of this involvement, Bumpers spent a week celebrating!
On both Monday and Tuesday, we took some fun photos showcasing students that once wore the blue jacket and are now Razorbacks.
The alumni chapter held a pancake breakfast for the college and it was a huge success! It also held leadership development events for high school chapters to participate in, the World Food Prize Arkansas Youth Institute, as well as a social event with a national officer.
Bryce McWilliams, vice president of finance for the alumni chapter, said “I was glad to see that so many people within our college participated in our planned events. Overall, it was a great week filled with pancakes, LDEs and a great social night.”
Zachary Andrews, a current Arkansas FFA state officer and Bumpers College student, participated in many events throughout the week beyond what our college did.
“FFA Week put over 1,000 miles on my truck, but it was so worth it,” Andrews said. “It was great to see our alumni chapter supporting our amazing organization. I love that our college also supports FFA.”
Stephanie Bennett is a past state officer for Arkansas FFA from the 2017-18 year and she is now very involved in our alumni chapter.
“It was so great to reconnect with members,” Bennett said. “I loved getting to see some members that I was able to make a true impact on. I love that our college loves FFA as much as it does.”
Bumpers College loves FFA and we loved being able to celebrate FFA Week with our current students as well as students we hope to call our own soon.
